Esendex has today launched its new API product suite, engineered from the ground up to meet the changing needs of modern customer communications.
The suite is designed for businesses that need fast, flexible multichannel messaging, spanning SMS and RCS from a single integration, or high-volume sending at scale, without compromising on simplicity either way. It’s built to help businesses engage customers seamlessly, wherever in the world they operate, as part of a full-scale redevelopment of Esendex’s core platform and architecture.
That investment has driven an expansive rollout this year. The new platform is now live for customers across the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, BeNeLux, Spain and Australia, with Italy to follow shortly and the US planned for next year.
“Twenty-five years of helping businesses reach their customers taught us exactly where the industry was heading, and where our own platform needed to go with it,” says Richard Hanscott, CEO, Esendex. “Technology in this space moves fast, regulation and compliance requirements keep tightening, and security has never mattered more. Meeting that properly meant rebuilding rather than evolving what we already had. Our new API products are the clearest evidence of that investment, but what matters most is what it means for our customers: technology that gets out of their way, so they can focus on the people they’re trying to reach. It’s built to scale wherever they operate, without losing the local support that’s always set Esendex apart.”
Two ways to connect, one platform underneath
Esendex’s new API product suite offers two integration options. The multichannel REST API, built around one format, one base URL and one API key, gives businesses flexibility across channels. The SMPP protocol is built for the high-volume, low-latency SMS streams that heavier-volume senders rely on. Both run on the same underlying platform, so developers on either route have less to configure and fewer integration paths to maintain.
“Our approach was to balance powerful features with genuine ease of use and the scale our customers need,” says Mark Bursnall, CTO, Esendex. “None of that is possible without a platform that’s stable and secure, and everything is built on that foundation. These products represent a real leap forward for our customers, and we can’t wait for them to start using them.”
Compliance, built in from the start
As regulation tightens across every market Esendex serves, the new suite combines ISO 27001 and NEN 7510 certification, built-in GDPR-compliant handling, and proactive 24/7 vulnerability scanning to strict OWASP and Cyber Essentials standards. That helps customers on their own path to compliance, without having to build that assurance from scratch.
SMS and RCS, from one integration
SMS alone is no longer enough for businesses that want richer, more engaging conversations with their customers. The multichannel REST API lets businesses switch between SMS and RCS by updating a single parameter, with no new integration required, and is engineered to scale as usage grows. Further channels, including WhatsApp, are already on the roadmap.
Esendex believes the time is right for its customers to start embracing RCS. It’s now available across most major markets, giving businesses the chance to send rich, branded, interactive messages, verified sender identity, high-resolution images, and one-tap actions that make for a much richer messaging experience. The company is committed to delivering the best RCS experience available through its platform, without adding complexity to how businesses build.
There’s plenty more still ahead, with a roadmap every bit as ambitious as the year behind it, including the architecture now in place to support what’s next, from further channels to AI-powered capabilities across the suite.
