On 7th July 2012, seven (crazy) people from Esendex decided to walk up Snowdon, Cadair Idris and Pen-Y-Fan – all in one day! This equates to 20 miles of walking up 3 of Wales’ highest mountains. Our chosen charity for this challenge was Action on Hearing Loss.
So, on Friday 6th July 2012 the weather was wet, but not just the normal summer shower or two, there was talk of a month’s rainfall in a day. It was still a bit damp when everyone set out for Bryn Gwynant – but that didn’t put anyone off!
On the 7th the team were up at 5am – springing out of bed and full of life! See below the details for each Peak;
Peak #1: Snowdon
Distance: 1085m
Time completed: 4.5 hours
Peak #2: Cadair Idris
Distance: 893m
Time completed: 3.5 hours
Peak #3: Pen-Y-Fan 886m
Distance: 886m
Time completed: 1.5 hours
After climbing each Peak the team headed to Cardiff in the rain, to get clean (definitely required by that point), eat, celebrate and sleep.
It’s was a hell of a trip and it took the team a few days to get over the aches – but definitely worth it. Especially as they raised well over £500 for Action on Hearing Loss. You can still donate until 7th October 2012.
Congratulations to everyone who took part!
