A2P enterprise messaging: the unexploited channel

Topic: Esendex news

A few weeks ago we talked about how Application-to-Person (A2P) SMS  revenues will exceed $70 billion by 2016, overtaking Person-to-Person (P2P) messaging. Continuing on this theme, here is a link to an interesting webinar held today, which further details the terrific changes in the messaging ecosystem ;

The webinar explains how P2P SMS will continue to reduce in volume, largely because of apps such as WhatsApp and Kik , as well as BlackBerry Messenger, which allow users to exchange messages without having to pay for SMS.  These work well between friends and family, who have signed up to these services and have smartphones, but are not suitable for A2P messaging.
P2P tends to involve one person communicating with another (or a handful at most).  A2P involves businesses talking to thousands of staff members or customers simultaneously, which these apps simply cannot replicate.
Enterprise A2P SMS is therefore predicted to grow as it remains the only way to communicate quickly and cheaply with large audiences and to reach every age, every demographic and every type of handset.
We’re also delighted that Esendex and some of our case studies have been used as examples to demonstrate the growth of this market.
