Auto Windscreens and Esendex have developed a system that allows Fitting Centre Managers to automatically text messages to their automotive glazing technicians from their IT Systems with their allocated jobs.
Auto Windscreens carries out over 750,000 jobs a year and has more than 600 mobile units working out of nearly 100 centres offering a 24 hour service. Communicating effectively with those teams created a logistical headache for managers. Auto Windscreens and Esendex have developed a system that allows Fitting Centre Managers to automatically text messages to their automotive glazing technician from their IT Systems with their allocated jobs. SMS was integrated with Auto Windscreens’ systems using the Esendex SMS API.
The technicians then text back a simple code when they’ve arrived at a vehicle, again when they’ve repaired or replaced the glass and again once more when they are ready to head off to their next job. The responses automatically update the status of the jobs logged into the control centre computers so managers can quickly and easily monitor progress.
A spokesman for Auto Windscreens says:
"Esendex came to see us in the morning and set up the account; our developers had a trial application running before the afternoon was out. It was so simple and so easy for our developers to do. We tested the system in the Birmingham area and were very pleased with the response so rolled it out across the country. It quickly became a very important part of our systems."
